English Language

1. Our Main Objectives

  • cater for learners' diversity through streaming and curriculum adaptation;
  • strengthen students' foundation of English through vocabulary building and grammar work;
  • encourage the communicative use of English at campus; and
  • promote various language learning strategies to create a language-rich environment

 

2. Course Introduction

Every learner is entitled to English Language education. As a Key Learning Area, English Language Education seeks to develop learners’ English proficiency for study, work and leisure; provide them with opportunities for personal and intellectual development, and extend their knowledge and experience of other cultures through the English medium; and help them overcome the challenges of the rapidly changing and keenly competitive knowledge-based society of Hong Kong.

 

3. Our Curriculum

Through developing a coherent school-based language curriculum, we are aimed at

3.1 equipping students with subject knowledge (general and linguistic) and skills (language, communication and learning how to learn) crucial for further study and work;

3.2 nurturing positive values and regular study habits for achieving academic success.

4.1 Students' Achievements

Hong Kong School Speech Festival (English)
Our students achieved spectacular success at this year's Hong Kong Speech Festival, which clearly demonstrated their immense dedication and eloquence.  
A total of 75 student participants stepped up to compete. Our overall results improved significantly, with an incredible 74.6% of participants achieving Merit certificates!
Leading this phenomenal triumph are two outstanding Secondary 5 boys who brilliantly placed in the top three:
• Louis Tang (S5A) clinched a fantastic 2nd place!
• Kongthong Aritat (S5C) secured a brilliant 3rd place!
Congratulations to all our students and teachers for their hard work.

 

The Hong Kong Budding Poets Award
Lok Tsz Kit Kevin (S5B), has won the prestigious Silver Award in the Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Award (HKBPA).Jointly organized by the Education Bureau and Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE)

 

25-26 Hong Kong Secondary Schools Debating Competition (HKSSDC)
Our school debating team successfully advanced to the grand final of the 2025-2026 Hong Kong Secondary Schools Debating Competition (HKSSDC).
In a thrilling final clash against Elegantia College, our talented debaters locked horns on the challenging motion: "THR the rise of travel-focused gap years among young people."  After a captivating war of words, our team secured the prestigious 1st Runner-up trophy! Adding to our celebration, Kongthong Aritat of S5C delivered a stellar performance to take home the Best Debater Award.

 

4.2 The English Clubs

English Drama Society
Members of the English Drama Society participated in the Hong Kong School Drama Festival (English). 3 actors from 1A won the Outstanding Actor Award!

 

English Debating Team
Our school debating team successfully advanced to the grand final of the 2025-2026 Hong Kong Secondary Schools Debating Competition (HKSSDC), and secured the 1st runner up.

 

English Reading Club
Students not only can join the reading sharing section at school, they can also participate in various reading activities organised by the EDB.

 

4.3 Activities

S1-S2 English Speaking Mondays
Students are chatting with teachers English ambassadors are playing games with S1 students.

 

S1 English Pre-Exam Quiz Game
Students are actively participating in this inter-class competition Class representatives are working hard to answer questions related to the vocabulary items they learnt.
